"SINGERS, MUSICIANS, COMEDIAN & STORYTELLING ARTIST'S CALL TO ACTION"

My name is Laura Corlin and I am an independent recording artist from the Boston area. I am sending out a "CALL TO ACTION" to all performance artists who would be interested in sharing their voice, music, storytelling and comedy with young hospital patients, living with life-threatening diseases, so that they may have something to listen to during their treatment periods.  The project is called "The Difference Music Makes." (Copy and paste this link and check out the audio at  http://www.cdbaby.com/corlin or check out the website at http://www.starmightfoundation.org/differencemusicmakes)  Already, I am so excited to say that world renowned performers, such as guitarist Ed Gerhard, celtic rock band Seven Nations and composer Tim Janis have already made enormous contributions to the program! Ed Gerhard has donated 50 of his compact discs for me to take to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in Memphis, TN and Tim Janis will be donating his CD's and helping me secure some CD players for the kids to listen to their new music on!! !!  Composer Frank Wallace of NH will be contributing 30 CDs while the Burt Wood School of Performing Arts will be contributing 2 copies of a CD they students created after September 11th to benefit the Todd Beamer Foundation!  There are more and cd's are arriving daily from performers from all over the US!  I want to take a huge selection of CD's from performers across the country!
I want to provide music for both the young and older kids to enjoy.  I am hoping to present the kids with a music package of many CD's, not just my own.  Please remember, NO CONTRIBUTION OF CDs IS TOO SMALL!  If you can send a minimum of 2 copies of your CD, 20 or 200 you can help!!  Please send only new and un-used CD’s as St. Jude Children’s Hospital cannot accept donations of used items.

For my own contribution to the program, I have independently produced and recorded my first CD, a collection of children’s favorites.  The first facility I have chosen to benefit from this program is the St. Jude  Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. I am donating 500 compact discs to the patients there and selling the remaining 500 to raise funds for medical research or life-threatening pediatric  diseases.  There are many reasons why I chose St. Jude to be the first recipient of my service project.  Not only is St. Jude Children's Research Hospital the number one children's hospital in the world, but it is renowned for the survival rates for its patients and no
child is EVER turned away from treatment if the family cannot pay!  Grander goals of securing a corporate sponsor, so that I may also  provide CD players for the kids to listen to the music on, are also part of my plan. But that is my wish list and for now I know that I will provide my 500 CD's to the kids and hopefully more from other artists!

Any Artist wishing to contribute Music, Comedy or Storytelling CD donations may do so by contacting our StarMight office by e-mail at starmightfoundation@hotmail.com, by
phone @ 603-664-9983 or
by shipping all Compact Disc's Contributions directly to:
The StarMight Foundation - 67 Spruce Pond Drive - Strafford, NH 03884

Financial Contributions are also accepted and dedicated to research of life-threatening pediatric diseases and the purchasing of CD players for the patients to listen to their CD's on during treatment periods.  Make all financial contribution checks out to The StarMight Foundation and mail to same address as above.

If you know of any other performance artists who may be interested in
contributing recordings to this project, please forward this letter
to them, as well. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my
letter and I hope to hear from you soon!

Sincerely and Gratefully Yours,
Laura Corlin, Founder of The Difference Music Makes
