is the website for the StarMight Foundation, a non profit, 501c-3 organization based in NH, founded by Meagan Corlin in 2002, when she was just 17 years old. This website includes links to local, state and national service organizations and scholarship programs for youth volunteers to reference. In addition, youth have access to a growing worldwide network of youth volunteers. Through this network, young people can build friendships, learn about community service, join up on projects already in their area AND learn how to start service projects or programs of their own!
About the President and Founder
Meagan Corlin
to service projects, unites young volunteers, and provides resources and support for youth created service projects. Meagan’s lifetime commitment to community service began when she started volunteering at 9 years old when she organized a sweater drive in her school, a project that continues to run annually in New England. Since that time she has organized numerous community service projects that have raised well over $100,000.00 to benefit local, state and national organizations supporting people in need.
As a senior in high school, Meagan was named a National Toyota Community Scholar, one of 11 students from the United States selected to receive a $20,000.00 college scholarship in recognition of both her academics and service to her community. She is the recipient of many service related scholarships including a Discover Card Tribute Award, the TARGET All-Around State Scholar Award, the Governor’s Award for Outstanding Youth Volunteerism, the President’s Student Service Gold Award, and the Seventeen/Cover Girl National Volunteer and Community Service Scholarship. Meagan is a Congressional Record Honoree and received the prestigious Prudential Spirit of Community Award twice, as both the middle and high school state winner for New Hampshire.
Meagan’s experience as a presenter and contributor to national conferences include the Mothers Against Drunk Driving National Summit on Preventing Underage Drinking, the National Crime Prevention Council Youth Summit, both in Washington, D.C. She has also facilitated for the National Youth Leadership Forum on Technology in San Jose, California and the Ben and Jerry’s Scoopers Making Change Conference in Waterbury, Vermont. Meagan has served as a workshop presenter and speaker for the StarMight Foundation in schools across New Hampshire, as well as with other organizations including Youth Venture, Teen Institute, 4H, City Year and the Greater Seacoast United Way.
Most recently, Meagan served as the director for the very first NH Youth Conference on Volunteerism produced by youth for youth. The 2006 Youth Conference on Volunteerism was held this past November for over 120 youth participants and 18 youth service organizations and featured workshops, keynote speakers, presentations by NH Congressmen, a recognition program and a whole lot of fun!
Meagan attended the University of Rhode Island as a Dean’s List and Centennial Scholar. While at URI she served as a freshmen orientation leader, a new student mentor, was inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and played for the women’s ice hockey team. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 2006 with a degree in Psychology and a Leadership Studies minor.
Meagan is a professional keynote, inspirational and motivational speaker on the topics of youth volunteerism and leadership. She presents workshops on youth service and offers youth volunteerism and conference consulting services for your organization or event.
